

Chief Warrant Officer 4, U.S. Army 41 years
Served along with US Air Force ROTC. After a 41 year career with the US Army he dedicated his retirement years to volunteering. He was a member of the Houston Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association, (HCPAAA) serving as second vice President, a member of the Community Emergency Response Team, (CERT), a member of the Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) of the Houston Police Department Braeburn Storefront, served as a Board member of the West Bellfort Property Owners Association, (WBPOA) He and Marcy planned, designed and built The Gardens at Braesridge, for which they received the Houston Mayor’s Proud Partners Award of Excellence and again was awarded the Houston Mayor’s Proud Partner Award for the landscaping of the WBPOA Braesridge Clubhouse. He volunteered on the Brays Oaks Management District Beautification Committee helping to design the landscaping of the many community esplanades.
Survived by his wife Marlys (Marcy) Williams, Vern was preceded in death by his parents Vernon Eugene and Ruth Naomi Sarginson of Medora, Illinois, and sister Mary Cecelia Mills of Shipman, Illinois. He is survived by his sister Donna Roland Sertl of Atlanta, Georgia, sister, Bonnie May Kunze of Seymour, Missouri and brother William Marshall Sarginson of Coffeen, Illinois. He’s survived by 9 nephews and nieces and 20 great nephew and nieces.
Survived by brothers–in-law and sisters-in-law- Lloyd and Harriet Hansen, Marlin and Sharon Ziermann of Mayer, Minnesota, Harvey and Betsy Ziermann, of Mayer, Minnesota, Douglas and Joanne Ziermann, of Monticello, Minnesota, Curtis and Susan Ziermann, of Mayer, Minnesota, Keith and Pam Ziermann, of Independence, Minnesota in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and all his wonderful circle of loving friends.
