

Vernon Aubrey Townsend, age 81, of College Station Texas, entered eternal rest peacefully at home on September 27, 2025. Born on February 27, 1944, in Wellborn, Texas, Vernon was the beloved son of the late Ozell Davis and J.B. Townsend. He was one of eleven children and was raised with strong values of hard work, love, and resilience.
Vernon graduated from Lincoln High School in College Station, Texas, and went on to dedicate 48 years of his life working at Wyman Gordon Machine Shop. He was known for his steady work ethic, quiet strength, and loyalty to his craft and coworkers.
Vernon was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Patricia Ruth Townsend, who passed on August 25, 2025. Their bond of sixty-three years was one of deep love and companionship. Together they were proud parents to their beloved son, Desni Reuss Townsend, who survives him and is married to Michelle Townsend. Vernon was a proud grandfather to two grandchildren, Dawson and Langdon Townsend, whom he adored and spoke of often with pride and joy.
He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Rocko, who remained a steadfast companion. Vernon is survived by his brother, Leon Townsend, his only remaining sibling, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember him with great affection and respect.
Vernon will be remembered as a humble man of integrity who deeply valued family, loyalty, and a life built on consistency. His quiet presence, warm heart, and enduring legacy will live on in all who had the privilege to know and love him.
