Vicente. Lira

Vicente G. Lira, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in Houston, Texas. Vicente was born September 22, 1934 to Santiago and Julia Lira in Mercedes Texas. Vicente was raised in Mercedes where he met and married his high school sweetheart Juanita G. Lira. He proudly served his country as an Ammunition helper and explosive operator in the US Army from January 26, 1955 to January 24, 1958 then served in the Army National Reserves from January 24, 1958 to January 25, 1963. He later moved his family to Laredo Texas where he lived as a prominent businessman. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus and the Laredo Quarterback Club. Upon retirement he moved to Houston for the remainder of his life.

Vicente is preceded in Death by Both of his parents Santiago and Julia Lira of Mercedes Texas, his brothers Jose Lira, Robert Lira, Alfredo Lira and his loving sister in Law Elida G. Lira.

Vicente is survived by his spouse Juanita G. Lira and by his children Dennis V. Lira (Laura), Cynthia A. Lira, Charles A. Lira (Mercedes), Sandra K. Magana (Jose), Grandchildren Christina D. Lira, Charles A. Lira, Richard D. Lira, Alyna N. Lira, Oscar V. Lira, Yessenia E. Magana and Alexandra L. Magana, Siblings Santiago Lira (Amelia) Sister in law Hortencia Lira and numerous nieces, nephews and close family friends.

Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 5 until 8 pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm.

A mass will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11 am at Saint Jerome Catholic Church 8825 Kempwood Drive, Houston, Texas 77080. A graveside service will follow in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038

The Pallbearers are Dennis V. Lira, Charles A. Lira, Charles Lira Jr., Richard Lira, Oscar Lira, Joseph Lira, Randy Krobot and Armando Leal
