

She was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on April 12, 1957 to Albert Blum and Belgica Calderon. She and her sister, Alicia Blum, moved to the states in 1975. She was a former resident of New York City before residing in Houston for the last 20 years. Vicky had a unique natural righteousness that showed in her carefree and independent quest to live her life to the fullest. She attended CUNY Manhattan and studied and excelled in the computer science field and received her bachelors degree while also studying Civil Engineering. This inborn ambition in the field came from her adoration of her father who received a Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering. In addition to her fluent language, Spanish, she studied in the French academy to gain fluency in French. She had an immense passion in mathematics and enjoyed tutoring in her spare time. In her recent years she put her heart on the line and recognized the need to rescue animals. She had an endearing mission to find homes and nourish these animals in need.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Alberto Blum. She is survived by her husband, Moises Rivas; daughter, Diana Haronitis; her grandchildren, Zoe & Gregory; mother, Jane Weissfisch; sister, Alicia Blum; stepfather, Dr. George Weissfisch; nephew, Carlos; nieces, Alicia, Adriana and Natalia and extended relatives.
