Victor Akwasi Asibra-Minta who was known to family and friends as Akwasi or Kwasi Minta, was born on the March 03, 1946 at Begoro, in Ghana, West Africa, to Mr. William Asibra-Minta from Agona Nyakrom and Mrs. Emma Akosua Akwaa Asibra-Minta (Nee. Amponsah) of Aburi and Nsawam (both deceased).
Kwasi Minta attended various primary and elementary schools due his father being a school teacher and prone to transfers to several towns including Begoro, Kyebi, Sandema, Bolgatanga and finally Abetifi where his father retired from the Ghana Education Service.
Kwasi Minta attended Achimota School from Form 1 in 1959 to Sixth Form in 1966.
After completing his 6th form (Advance “A” Level) education, he taught for a while at Abetifi Secondary School. Kwasi Minta worked with Barclays Bank of Ghana. Kwasi Minta enrolled in the University of Syracuse in New York, U.S.A. to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Management & Accounting from 1970 to 1974.
In 1977 Victor relocated back to Ghana with his family and, through the support of the late Lawyer William Ansa Otu he secured employment with Mankoadze Fisheries Company and stayed with the company until 1986.
In 1986 Victor Kwasi Minta won a scholarship to return to the U.S.A. on the Hubert Humphrey Scholar Program for his master’s degree. After completing the program, he returned to Ghana and got employment with Messrs Interbeton Construction Company who were then on the Kumasi to Yeji road rehabilitation project. He later joined his cousin Frank Achampong at Facol Roads in Accra until his retirement age in 2008.
Kwasi travelled back to Houston in the United States to be with his daughter Lola to while away his retirement days.
In late February 2021, Kwasi, who was being nursed from illness, suddenly had a downturn and succumbed in the evening of Friday, March 05, 2021.
Victor Asibra-Minta is survived by many whom he affectionately called his children, and his loving wife Elizabeth Anderson.
