Our beloved PaPa Vic, who loved so deeply, cared so greatly, and was thought of so highly, passed away from Covid-19 on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the age of 78. He was surrounded in love and prayers by his wife and children. Vic was born on September 27, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Frank and Lucille Virgadamo.
Vic attended Sacred Heart Catholic School Downtown, Assumption Catholic School and was in the first four year graduating class of St. Pius X High School – Class of 1960. He forged and maintained friendships from his high school days to the present. He was an athlete who had a lifelong love of sports and participated whole heartedly every way he could. PaPa Vic, as he was known around the SPX campus, was considered by many to be the OG Panther. He would always offer words of wisdom and advice to students. PaPa Vic had a great heart and love for his Panthers. You could always find him in the stands or on the sidelines cheering them on. He was a great example that the smallest roles can make the biggest difference. He was always proud to be in the Class of 1960 and will forever be a SPX Panther.
Vic began his work career at Bakers Shoe Store where he met his beautiful wife, Patricia. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam era (1966-1968). Later, he worked at Finger Furniture. He started his own company, Greenspoint Building Services, in 1981 where he worked for 37 years until his retirement in 2018. Major accounts included St. Mary’s Seminary, St. Dominic Villa and St. Pius X High School where he built lifelong friendships with many people. He considered all his employees family and still maintained a close relationship with them after retirement. Vic was an ambassador of the Knights of Columbus Council 2917 and was Knight of the Year in 2019.
Vic is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Lucille Virgadamo and his sister Mary Lou Fontana. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia; son Marc and wife Myra; grandchildren Marissa Virgadamo and Ashlee Lopez and husband Daniel; daughter Vicki Bradley and husband Danny; grandchildren Madilyn and Dylan. Our dad was the life of the party. His smile and laughter would light up the room. He was always telling jokes or doing silly things to make us laugh. He never met a stranger. He entered your heart and became your friend.
Vic will be laid to rest with military honors on December 22, 2020 at the Veterans Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston, Texas at 12:30pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, only immediate family is allowed. We ask that you join us in spirit and prayer for Vic’s soul at 12:30pm on that date. A memorial celebration will be scheduled at a later time so family and friends may gather to celebrate his life.
