Virginia was born in Houston on July 11, 1941 to Lena and Joe Matranga. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in 1960. She worked as an executive secretary at Superior Oil and other companies for many years. In 1966, she met her husband of 44 years, Anthony Vento, at her sister, Mary Ann’s wedding.
Virginia and Anthony were married on September 22, 1968 and had two children. She was the most wonderful, loving mom and devoted wife, and stayed home to raise her family until her kids were grown. She then began working again, and ended her career at Raymond James where she made many good friends.
Virginia had that special gift of bringing her vibrant energy to every occasion. Her laugh was loud, heartfelt and so contagious. When she entered any gathering, the level of joy went through the roof (especially when with her sisters). Laughter followed her through every day of her life. She was a true “character”. She never met a stranger who she did not befriend within minutes.
Her faith in God, family and friends was unwavering and provided strength to carry her through this last journey of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Angela Vento Pfeiffer, and husband, Ronnie, son, Anthony Vento, Jr.; step-grandson, Sean Pfeiffer; father, Joe Matranga; sister, Theresa Matranga Neal, and husband, Mike, brother, George Matranga, and wife, Tammie, sister-in-law, Joyce Coles; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Sacco Matranga, and sister, Mary Ann Belnoske.
