Born in Houston, Texas on July 1, 1937, Vivian Eileen was the middle child of Clarence Hardin and Elsie Windham Turner. Vivian, 87, died of natural causes at her home in Conroe, Texas, on September 3, 2024, surrounded by love.
Vivian was proud to be a native Houstonian who grew up in the Heights where she graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1955. She was a proud member of The Reagan Redcoats Drum and Bugle Corp. She married Clinton O. Gowan, Jr. on March 10, 1956, in Houston, Texas. This year they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Vivian is remembered for her kind and considerate heart. She was quietly confident, never seeking out glory for herself even as she radiated grace and class. Her smile always made the world a better place. Always supporting and encouraging, she was truly the wind beneath the wings of her family. Vivian was an avid golfer and was extremely proud of her two Holes in One. She loved attending University of Houston sporting events with friends and family. Vivian enjoyed a good game of cards and Chicken Foot and exemplified a good-natured competitive spirit. She loved to sew, do ceramics, and crochet.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Clinton, her parents, sister Doris, and young daughter, Cara Kathryn.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Art Formas of Cypress, TX, son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Jill Gowan of Lee's Summit, MO, six grandchildren: Arthur "Trey" Formas, III (Gabby), Jordan Kellinger (Joe), Jared Gowan (Jenna), Andrew Formas, Jacob Gowan (Camryn), and Joshua Gowan, and 3 great grandchildren: Henry Joseph Kellinger, Clint Daniel Gowan and Carson Rose Formas, as well as brother Clarence Turner (Maureen) and sister-in-law, Carolyn Gowan as well as many loving nieces and a nephew.
