On October 19, 2023, Walter Erick Engelken, a devoted husband and loving father to five children, peacefully passed away at the age of 81. Erick, born on December 1, 1941, in Alva, Oklahoma to Louis Engelken and Ella (nee Kletke) Engelken, and was the youngest of four boys.
He graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva where he received his undergraduate degree.
He earned a master's degree in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and dedicated over 40 years to a successful career as an Environmental Engineer in the oil and gas industry.
He moved to Lake Charles, LA in 1975 and on September 2,1977, he united in matrimony with his beloved wife, Jane Anne Price, blending their families from previous marriages, embracing Amy, Sarah (Brad), and Jennifer (Linc), before welcoming two sons, Benjamin (Samantha) and Matthew into their lives. Erick cherished his upbringing on a wheat farm and had a passion for hands-on projects, crafting items for Jane, and indulging in his fascination with cars and OU football. He found joy in outdoor activities, such as dirt biking, camping, and powered parachuting.
Erick was preceded in death by his parents, two of his brothers, Ralph and Ernest Engelken, and his grandson, Brandon Engelken. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his brother Robert (Ruth) of Chico, California, Erick’s five children, their spouses, six beloved grandchildren, and a multitude of dear friends, and family.
On October 24th, Rosary will be said at 10:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. A private burial to be held later.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association LBDA.org in Erick's memory.
