Watts Cyrus Cutter III, a beloved father, friend, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully early in the morning on Sunday, the 25th of January 2026. He was born on the 16th of August 1940, in Baton Rouge, the son of Watts Cyrus Cutter, Jr. and Grace Landry Cutter, and brother to Judy Cutter Ward. He was 85 years of age.
After graduating from high school in New Orleans, he attended Severn School, a preparatory school for the United States Naval Academy. One year later, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for two years before returning home to attend the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafeyette where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
In 1968, Watts met and married the love of his life, Faye Baldwin Cutter, a native of Virginia. They then moved to Baton Rouge for his job with General Electric. During that time, they had two children, Brian and Chad Cutter. Watts’ job took them overseas to Tehran and London, where he spent nearly four years working and traveling with his family before returning to Houston in 1979. In 1983, he started and ran his own successful business with a college fraternity brother for nearly forty-five years before they sold the business and retired.
Watts had a love for the water, owning several boats during his life from family recreational boats to sailboats to motor yachts. He and his wife were active members of the Lakewood Yacht Club in Kemah for nearly twenty years, spending many weekends at the club for social events and boat cruises to nearby destinations.
Watts was known for his generous heart, unwavering integrity, and sharp wit. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and steadfast support, always ready to lend a helping hand to friends and strangers alike. His humor brightened every room he entered, and his love for life was infectious. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Watts' legacy lives on in the cherished memories he created and the countless lives he enriched.
Watts was preceded in death by his parents, Watts and Grace Cutter.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Baldwin Cutter; his sister, Judy Ward; his children, Watts Brian Cutter and wife Stephanie, and Chad Eric Cutter and wife Elizabeth; and grandchildren, John Talbot Cutter, Katelyn Nicole Cutter, and Lauren Elise Cutter.
