

Wayne was born on August 2, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Grace Peters. He received a catholic education through high school and then went on to pursue a degree in business. He also served in the Naval Reserve for four years.
In 1953 he began his twenty seven year career with Gulf Oil in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a Crude Oil Trader. His profession took him all over the world, while living in New York, London and ultimately moving to Houston,Texas when in 1978 Gulf Oil was acquired by Chevron Corporation. In 1980, Wayne went on to work for Tomlinson Petroleum, as head of trading and later with Sumitomo Corporation. After retirement, he worked as an oil industry consultant with Applied Trading Systems until his early 80’s. Throughout his career he forged many meaningful business relationships that turned into personal, lasting friendships.
Wayne had a passion for life and serving his community. He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit, quick wit and great sense of humor. He loved to socialize and could strike up a meaningful conversation with anyone. Wayne treasured his family and his Catholic faith. He was a homebound minister with St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Houston for over 11 years. He was also an accomplished bridge player and continued to play 2 to 3 times a week. He loved to travel with his family and had many memorable vacations throughout the years. His favorite city was Paris, France and he made sure to visit there on many of his trips. Wayne also adored his dog Clovis, spoiling him and enjoying their many daily walks together.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph and Grace, sister Ruth, brothers Leo, Larry, and Bob and his first wife, Iris Nee.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Maude; his 7 children, Kathy(Ken)Buzzard, Karen(Joe)Grant, Judy(Jeff)Motter, Wayne A.(Esmi) Peters, Nancy(Steve)Knudtsen, Ashley(Clif)Walker and Danielle Peters; sisters Lois(John)Yates and Joan Hathaway; and 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
