Wes passed away at 5:50 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011. He was at home with Nancy holding his hand and his daughters, Heather and Karen by his side. He was 64 years old. He entered into the army in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1970. Wes was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a PFC. His family is so proud of the strength, grace and humor with which he battled his disease and never gave up. His witty humor will be sorely missed. Wes was an adoring grandfather to his grandsons, Zach and Ryan, who nicknamed him “Boo” for all the hide-and-seek games he played with them as babies. He was a lover of animals – especially cats. He is predeceased by his father, Lee and his mother, Merle. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (with whom he just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary); his daughters, Heather and Karen (who he was like a 2nd father to from the ages of 8 and 11); his son-in-law Brad (who so enjoyed his dry humor); his grandsons, Zach and Ryan (who Wes had many nicknames for); his brother Gary (who came to watch ballgames with him); and his sister, Debbie (who came in from San Antonio almost every weekend to spend time with him).
