William Allen Blizzard

Bill was born April 10, 1932 in Atlanta, Texas to Eddie and Myrtle Blizzard. Shortly after leaving the U.S. Army, Bill moved to Houston where he met and married his wife of 59 years, Jacquelene “Jackie” Leger. Bill enjoyed working, and in his early career was a Stationary Engineer, overseeing operation and maintenance services in many of the office buildings in downtown Houston. Later in life, Bill started his own construction company, focused primarily on home and office remodeling. He also enjoyed taking long vacations, and these provided many joyful memories for his family.

Bill is survived by his four sons, William Blizzard, Jr. and his wife Janis, Jerry Blizzard and his wife Phyllis, Robert Blizzard and his wife Lisa, and Michael Blizzard and his wife Julia. Grandchildren include Jacob and his wife Tiffany, Austen, Cameron and Savannah, and great grandchildren Caleb, Claire and Natalie. Sisters Katherine and Ruby and brothers Walter and Grady. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Myrtle brothers, Goldman, Bill, Charles and Joe, and sisters Ruth, Lerlene and Eddie May.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 7th at the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038, Pastor Bill Cole will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Houston National Cemetery, also on Veterans Memorial Dr., adjacent to the funeral home facility. Visitation hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 6th.
