

William Scott Rogers passed away Monday, the 24th of November, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 72. He was born on the 19th of October, 1953, in Houston, Texas, to Oscar Scott Rogers, Jr. and Elizabeth Gates Rogers. He graduated from Barrington Consolidated High School, just north of Chicago, Illinois, in 1972. He attended Western Michigan University on an athletic gymnastics scholarship. After a sports injury, he transferred to The University of Texas at Austin where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1976. He completed his education at South Texas College of Law where he graduated with his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1981. He worked as a successful oil and gas attorney for over 30 years, most notably as General Counsel for Yuma Energy, Inc., ultimately retiring in 2012. He was a man of faith and served as an ordained deacon at Houston’s Second Baptist Church. He held a special place in his heart for Rocky Mountain National Park where he enjoyed “rock hopping” and hiking with his family. He was an avid dog lover, a wonderful dancer, and an enthusiastic softball coach for his daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Thomas Scott Rogers. He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Marianne Spencer Rogers, his daughter Lauren Rogers Farmer and her husband Bryan, his daughter Ashleigh Rogers Bell and her husband Sean, and his grandson Samuel Scott Bell. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 4th of December, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A funeral service is to be conducted at half past ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 5th of December, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where Rev. Joe Dougharty, Associate Pastor at Houston’s First Baptist Church is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
Interment will follow the reception, via an escorted cortège, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
