William Elvin Tabb (Bill) went to be with the Lord October 13, 2021. Bill was born September 5, 1929 in Austin, TX. He was the second of three children and only boy of Edna and Elvin Tabb. Bill’s family moved to Texarkana when he was in junior high. Bill earned a Business Degree from the University of Texas where he met Jeanette, his wife of 59 years. At Jeanette’s death he would say he couldn’t remember not being married. His working life was always connected to the insurance industry. In 1957 the family moved from Austin to Houston when he joined the John L. Wortham and Sons Insurance Agency where he worked until his retirement as one of their Executive Partners. He liked to say, “I spent my entire working life in other people’s business.” Bill was a devoted husband and father and his interests and hobbies centered around the home, family and outdoor activities. He was handy at home repairs and enjoyed outside chores. He didn’t mind sweating in the Texas sun and said it was his natural air conditioning. He loved working with wood, especially wood carving. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Jeanette, and they shared bird watching as well. The last five years of Bill’s life he lived in assisted living (3) and memory care (2) in New Braunfels and was well loved by the staff for his friendly disposition and witty responses. He was a little reserved, but always gracious and friendly. He loved looking out the window or sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch. He would look out over the rolling hills of New Braunfels and say, “you can see forever.” Now he is with Jesus and he can truly see forever.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette (2010), parents, Elvin and Edna Tabb, and his older sister Iva Ruth Deibert. He is survived by his younger sister, Mary Caldcleugh, son Michael Tabb (Barb), daughter, Kathryn Yaroslawski, daughter, Jeannie Tabb Kauppi (Ken), and daughter Annette Arp (Lee), and by 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held in New Braunfels, November 6, 11:00am at Freedom Fellowship Church, 410 Oak Run Point.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials go to Samaritan’s Purse or World Vision, two ministries that Bill had supported. Bill was supporting three children through World Vision at the time of his death. If anyone would like to sponsor one of those children, please contact daughter, Jeannie Tabb.
The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice for their kindness and gentleness with Bill in the last two weeks of his life and for walking through the journey with his children. You were a blessing from God!
