

William Lewis Zarco, age 92, of Conroe, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025. Born in Bryan, Texas, to Eulalio Ortiz Zarco and Aurora Ibarra Zarco, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
Bill attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston and, upon completion in 1951, joined the US Navy. He served honorably during the Korean War on the destroyer USS Rogers, receiving his honorable discharge in 1954.
Following his military service, Bill embarked on a distinguished 40-year career with the US Postal Service. His commitment and excellence were recognized through numerous certifications and his selection for a management program in Washington D.C., where he served on the board of appeals before becoming a postmaster. In 1983, he furthered his education at The Wharton School of Business and shared his knowledge by teaching postal training courses at North Harris County College.
During his tenure at the USPS, Bill met Benita Lujan. Married on May 23, 1983, they shared 42 years of marriage, even building their home in Conroe together. Bill enjoyed being in nature, painting and especially woodworking, studying under Robert Hensarling in Uvalde, Texas, where he mastered the art of crafting rocking chairs in the Sam Maloof style.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Eulalio and Aurora Zarco, and his sister, Gloria Quinn. He is survived by his beloved wife, Benita Lujan Zarco; daughters, Carol Cox, Melissa Shumaker, and Nicole Zarco; sons, William Lewis Zarco II, Bill Anthony Zarco, Chris Andrade, and Nicolas Andrade; brothers, David Zarco and Robert Zarco; sisters, Evangeline Hernandez and Margaret Rodriguez; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Bill's legacy of service, craftsmanship, and love will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
