William David (Dave) Zwick, of Wylie, Texas, passed peacefully October 29, 2020 at the age of 74 in Richardson, Texas. The funeral service will be held November 3 at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston.
Dave was born September 28, 1946 in Houston, Texas, and served 3 years in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Lamar University, Dave became a band director for Crockett and Beaumont ISDs and played in jazz bands at local nightclubs. Dave retired as a Supervisor from Mobil Oil and then continued his career with DynMcDermott at the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He loved delving into genealogy, tending his ever-growing garden, and feeding his spirit at North End Baptist Church in Beaumont. Dave and Joanie moved to Wylie, Texas in 2015 to embark on a journey of full retirement and share his wide smile, bright passions, and grounded wisdom.
Dave was known for always being a happy man and loving the Lord. He never met a stranger, and was always willing to share with others and offer a helping hand when needed. He enjoyed his Sunday School class and counted its members as his close friends. Dave found his second calling late in life as “Pop Pop.” He loved his grandchildren deeply and won their adoration in return.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joanie, two daughters, Angie Turk and husband Doug of Livingston, Autumn Epps and husband Morgan of Richardson, and three grandchildren, Maggie Turk (15), Eddie Turk (11), and Gwendolyn Epps (5). Dave is also survived by two sisters, Becky Mouser and Nancy Brown.
Donations in his memory may be made to North End Baptist Church or to your local Veterans Affairs office.
