Yomaira Andrade Garcia was granted her angel wings on August 29, 2022. Her final weeks were spent surrounded by family and she was held by her son, husband and daughter-in-law as she peacefully passed away.
Yoma’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by her understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Her cooking, fun-loving attitude and zest for life brought so much joy to all who knew her.
In her last months on earth, she received diagnoses that made it hard for her to do the things she enjoyed like trying out new restaurants and finding out which one had the best happy hours. However despite her health, she still showed up for the people she loved. Whether it was a baseball game, a ride to a surgery, pet sitting or needing help getting dinner on the table, Yoma was always there for her friends and family.
She loved traveling, cooking, listening to Baranquilla radio, talking on the phone with her siblings and being with her family, (especially her munequito, George). She claimed to not enjoy television but could spend hours watching her favorite telenovela and then of course debriefing with her cousin and best friend, Gloria.
Yoma is survived by her loving husband, Roberto; her son, George; her mother Fanny; her nine siblings, Alberto, Geovanni, Magali, Mayito, Osiris, Edith, Nury, Miriam, and Jamie; her nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly; and her grandpups Joey, Ollie, Buddy and Tati whom she spoiled with table food and outfits.
