

靳自齐先生自幼聪慧好学,勤奋刻苦。他先后在礼泉县完成初级中学学业,并在西安市读完高级中学。1955年,他以优异的成绩从西北工业大学毕业,随后投身教育事业,开启了长达数十年的教学生涯。他曾任职于陕西工业大学及西北纺织学院(后更名为西安工程大学),从讲师、副教授一路晋升至教授。在四十余年的教育工作中,他兢兢业业,诲人不倦,培养了无数优秀学子,为中国的纺织工程和教育事业作出了重要贡献。
1985年,靳自齐先生携家人移民美国,定居休斯顿。来到美国后,他并未停下脚步,而是继续在陕西工程学院任教,并多次往返中美两国,为教育事业和学术交流贡献力量。同时,他积极投身于休斯顿华人社区的建设与发展。在中国人活动中心创办初期,他慷慨解囊,捐款支持,并推动创办了靳宝善图书馆,为社区的文化和教育事业奠定了重要基础。此外,他还是休斯顿陕西同乡会的倡议者与发起人之一,为同乡会的成立和发展倾注了大量心血,深受同乡们的敬爱与尊重。
靳自齐先生不仅是一位杰出的教育工作者和社区领袖,更是一位热爱家庭的好父亲、好祖父。他对家人充满关爱,尤其疼爱孙子孙女、外孙外孙女。无论工作多么繁忙,他总是尽量抽出时间陪伴家人,享受天伦之乐。他的慈爱与关怀深深感染着每一位家庭成员,也成为他们心中永远的温暖与力量。
靳自齐先生的一生,是奉献的一生,是充满爱与责任的一生。他用自己的行动诠释了无私与坚韧,他的精神将永远激励我们前行。他的离世让人深感痛惜,但他的音容笑貌与崇高品格将永远留存于我们心中。
靳自齐先生跨越不同的时代与国家,但始终坚守信念与初心。无论是作为教育工作者、社区领袖,还是家人心中的支柱,他都以无私的奉献和深沉的爱,留下了不可磨灭的印记。我们深切缅怀他的一生,愿他安息,精神永存。

Zi Chi Jing, 92-year-old, Houston, Texas, passed away 3/11/2025.
He was born in Li Quan, Shaanxi, China on January 5, 1933 to Dr. Baoshan Jing and Mrs. Kou Jing.
He was married to Xiue Luo over 70 years.
He was educated in China. He completed his junior high school education in Liquan County and attended senior high school in Xi’an. In 1955, he graduated with outstanding academic performance from Northwestern Polytechnical University and subsequently dedicated himself to education, embarking on a teaching career that spanned several decades. He taught at Shaanxi University of Technology and Northwestern Textile Institute (later renamed Xi’an Polytechnic University), rising through the ranks from lecturer to associate professor and eventually to full professor of Mechanical Engineering. Over his more than 40 years of teaching, he worked tirelessly, nurturing countless talented students and making significant contributions to China’s textile engineering and education sectors.
In 1985, Mr. Jing immigrated to the United States with his family, settling in Houston. However, he did not slow down after arriving in the U.S. Instead, he continued teaching at Shaanxi Institute of
Technology and frequently traveled between China and the U.S. to support educational endeavors and academic exchanges. At the same time, he actively participated in the development of Houston’s Chinese community. In the early days of the Chinese Civic Center, he generously donated funds and played a key role in establishing the Bao Shan Jing Library, laying an important foundation for cultural and educational initiatives within the community. He served as board member, vice chairman of the board, and honorary chairman of the Chinese Civic Center. Additionally, he was one of the key initiators and founders of the Shaanxi Association in Houston, dedicating significant effort to its establishment and development, earning deep respect and admiration from his fellow community members.
Mr. Jing was a man of quiet strength and deep integrity, guided by an unwavering sense of fairness and justice. He carried himself with dignity and kindness, and he exhibited dedication, conscientiousness, and selflessness in his actions. Resilient and steadfast in his principles, Mr. Jing embodied gentleness in spirit, nobility of character, and simplicity in his way of life. Beyond his lifelong commitments to education and community service, he enjoyed reading, traveling, and Tai Chi. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and dearly beloved by his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Baoshan Jing and Mrs Jing.
He is survived by his wife: Xiue Luo; his three children: James, Janet, and Bob; and his six grandchildren: Andrew Jing, Rolina Luo, Gracie Jing, Brandon Luo, Sydney Jing, and Audrey Jing
A visitation for Zi will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A committal service will occur Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
