

Zoe Clara Lansing Cermak was born July 8, 1929, in New Orleans, La., and passed into God’s loving arms on August 12, 2011, in Houston, Tex. She was a 1950 graduate of Southeastern Louisiana College and, for twenty-eight years, was an educator in the St. Tammany and Jefferson Parish Public School Systems and in schools of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Before moving to Houston in 2005, she was a long time resident of Metairie, La. Zoe loved music and enjoyed reading. She was grateful for a life filled with loving, caring, Christian support from family and friends. Zoe was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas R. and Lucille D. Lansing, and by her beloved husband of 49 years, Josef J. Cermak. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Josef and Claire, Jan and Alicia, and Joel and Laurie; grandchildren, Ryan, Zachary, Dylan, Madelaine, Sarah, John, and Elizabeth; great-granddaughter, Makenna; sister, Tess Lansing Schutte, and brother-in-law, Thomas F. Schutte; nephews, Douglas L. and David L. Schutte; and dear cousins. A visitation will be held on August 15 (5:30-8:00 p.m.), at Brookside Funeral Home, 9149 Hwy 6 North, Houston, Tex. 77095. Funeral services will be held on August 16 (11:00 a.m.), at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 14225 Hargrave Rd., Houston, Tex. 77070. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Zoe’s memory be made to St. Timothy Lutheran Church’s benevolence fund.
