

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Abel Chavez Guzman, who was called to his eternal rest on August 15, 2024. Born on January 6, 1954, Abel moved from his hometown of El Cerro, Guanajuato Mexico to California in which he made Ripon, California his home, and leaving behind a large and loving family.
Abel is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Margarita Chavez, along with their children; daughters Alicia Santiago and Victoria Chavez, and sons Carlos Chavez and Abel Chavez Jr. He was the proud grandfather of Cameron Chavez, Richard Santiago Jr., Isaac Chavez, Jordan Chavez, Emma Santiago, Alexis Toscano and Jaxton Chavez. Abel was also a beloved brother to 5 brothers; Ricardo Chavez, Martin Chavez, Zeferino Chavez Guzman, Jose Luis Chavez, and Luis Chavez, and sisters Carmen Chavez, Erminda Chavez Guzman and Maria Alicia Chavez. Abel was predeceased by his parents, Nicolas and Maria Jesus Chavez, and his grandson, Christian Santiago.
Abel was a man of simple pleasures, his favorite meal being beans and tortillas with a jalapeno paired with a Coca-Cola. He enjoyed listening to Los Tigres del Norte, while drinking a Budweiser and smoking his favorite pack of GPC cigarettes. Abel could often be found playing the lottery or scratching lottery tickets in his free time.
A handyman by nature, Abel loved yard work and fixing things around the house, including his favorite activity - working on cars or repairing washers and dryers. He was also known to enjoy morning walks around town, fishing and going to the local Flea Market every weekend. He always looked forward to visiting his hometown of El Cerro, Guanajuato Mexico and spending time with his family.
A Memorial service for Abel will be held on Aug 31, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home & Lakewood Memorial Park. In honoring Abel, we shall remember him not with tears and sorrow, but with joy and laughter for a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
In these difficult times, may we find comfort in the memories we shared with Abel and strength in the love that binds us as a family. Abel Chavez Guzman, you will forever live in our hearts.
