

Alicia Miler was called to Heaven on September 17th, 2024 while surrounded by family in her home in Empire, California at the age of 88. Alicia, also known as Alice, was born on August 3rd, 1936 in Earlimart, California and raised in Oakland, California on Hunter Avenue in the area known as Brookfield Village. Alicia and her family eventually moved to Orchard Avenue in San Leandro, California before relocating to Modesto, California. Alicia bought a plot of land in Empire, California and had her home built which is where she resided, with the exception of a brief stint in Gualala, California, before returning to Empire, California until her passing.
Alicia worked at Mother’s Cookies in Oakland, California, Johnson Controls in Milpitas, California and The Sea Ranch Association in Sea Ranch, California. She was an avid collector of jewelry and investing in real estate as she owned and sold several properties during her life. Alicia was also passionate about law enforcement and had many connections to the Sherriff’s Department and local police which eventually led to her raising German Shepherd dogs Gretchen and Rookie. She was especially proud of her work with the Modesto Police Department where she worked as a City of Modesto employee as a volunteer coordinator and was even recognized for her crime prevention work with the Prescott Estates Crime Free Program Team in 2000.
Alicia reunites in Heaven with her parents; Daniel and Urbana, siblings; Joseph, Manuel, Ernestine, Bibiana, Ofelia, Virginia and Helen, grandchildren; Joseph Daniel Gordon Jr., D’Marcus Collins and Sophia Stokes as well as her great grandchild Andre Saffell Jr. Alicia is survived by her sister Dolores Santos, children; Joseph Gordon Sr., Frank Vasquez, Nancy Vasquez, Phyllis Michel and Michelle Collins, son-in-law Victor Michel, daughter-in-law Megan Gordon, grandchildren; David Gordon, Shannon Gordon, Dominick Gordon, Mateo Gordon, Danielle Gordon, Delino Jermanon Jr., Sacheen Henderson, Angelina Fairbanks, Isabel Reyes, Katrina Corona, Louis LaVenture Jr., Jessica Michel, Alexis Dunn and Taejon Keeler. She is also survived by many great and great-great grandchildren.
Services for Alicia will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home and Lakewood Memorial Park at 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson, California 95326 on October 9th and 10th, 2024. The visitation and viewing will be on Wednesday October 9th, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Riverside Chapel. There will be a service followed by the burial on Thursday October 10th, 2024 beginning at 10 a.m. Following the burial, family and friends are encouraged to come celebrate the life of Alicia at a reception at the Hughson Community Senior Center at 2307 4th Street in Hughson, California 95326 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
