Anita and her husband and their three children moved to California in 1970 and settled in Hughson. Prior to coming to California Anita worked at ByerRolnick Hat Corporation in Garland, Texas from 1968 to 1970 where she too pride in making Resistol hats. Dallas Cowboys head coach Tom Landry's famous fedora hats were made there because every year he was presented with a new one from the company owners. In California Anita worked at the cannery S&W in Modesto. Her favorite pastime, which was started by Jose (husband), was going on outings with her family; Yosemite National Park, Columbia State Historic Park, and San Francisco were some of her favorites. She also loved playing bingo, and going to barbecues. She was an excellent cook and her tamales were superbly delicious. She was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and rarely missed a game on television. She had many friends and making new ones was in her nature. She had a contagious smile and personality unlike non other. That must have been what her husband Jose saw in his future wife. Anita and Jose Jr. married on December 12, 1960 in Edinburg, Texas and remained married until he passed on September 20, 2002.
She is survived by her children, Norma Copin (Brian), Jose Herrera Ill, and Roberto Herrera (Julia) and her two grandchildren, Roberto Herrera Jr., and Caroline Danielle Copin. She was one of seven children; Alberto M Gonzalez Jr. (deceased), Esperanza Rodriguez, Eduardo Gonzalez, Arnulfo Gonzalez, Armando Gonzalez (deceased), Leonel Gonzalez (deceased), and Fabian Gonzalez.
Anita will remain in the hearts of many who knew and admired her for her gracefulness, kindness, and love. Wouldn't you know it, the name Anita means "grace".
