February 23, 1927 - February 6, 2013
Anne Jeanette Lash was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 23, 1927 and died February 6, 2013 in Modesto, California at the age of 85.
Anne was the sixth of seven children born to Vincent and Louise (nee Bommarito) Cipponeri. Anne's parents emigrated from Italy to the United States. The Cipponeri family moved to Modesto and Anne has lived here continuously since 1930. Anne was a meticulous homemaker, magnificent cook, and fabulous baker. She was a strong believer in the family unit and often gave large family dinners and parties at her home. Thanksgiving and Christmas at the Lash home were formal "over-the-top" celebrations. Anne's home and kitchen was her castle and she spent many hours creating pies, cookies, cakes, dinners, and special cannoli treats for everyone to savor. Anne enjoyed playing the piano, collecting dolls, antiques, golfing, bowling, decorating her home, arranging flowers, photography, and maintaining her petite figure with daily Jack La Lane exercises.
In the past, Anne worked as a teller for American Trust, Wells Fargo Bank, and Bank of America. Anne met the love of her life, Banker John G. Lash when they both worked for Wells Fargo Bank Modesto. They were married in 1949 at the Modesto First Methodist Church and Anne became a homemaker extraordinaire. In 1963-1964 Anne was the President of Elihu Beard School PTA. She was Vice President of Roosevelt Junior High School PTA and held offices for Davis High School PTA. She was Bethel No. 42 Job's Daughter's Mother's Club President in 1969-1970 and volunteered as a docent for the Modesto McHenry Museum. After John retired from Wells Fargo Bank, they traveled around the United States, England, Scotland, and Wales. Anne was a member of the First Christian Church.
Anne is survived by daughter Gail Sims (Robert) of Napa, son Gary Lash (Deanna) of Arnold, and son Brad Lash, wife Susan Nelson of Modesto. Grandchildren Paul Sims (Kristen), Brad Sims (Becky), Brian Sims (Tracee) of Napa, Erik Lash of Modesto, Collette Lash of Davis, Spencer Lash of Santa Barbara, Tracey Holaday of Turlock, David Holaday of San Francisco, Kevin Lash and Kellie Lash of Arnold.
Great-grandchildren: Abygail, Brooke, Nicholas, Isabella, Alec, Carlee, and Kai. Tragically, her first grandchild, Robin Gail Sims died in 1993 at the young age of 18, the result of an automobile accident.
Anne is survived by sister Mary Credille (James) of Modesto, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Anne is predeceased by her husband Lt. Col. John G. Lash (USAF Ret), parents Vincent and Louise Cipponeri, brothers, Peter, Joseph, and Charles Cipponeri, and sisters, Frances Aleo and Margaret Poma.
Anne's wish was to remain in her treasured home, a familiar and comfortable place, and as long as possible. With help from family members and caregivers, her wish was achieved. Anne will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anne's funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m at Lakewood Funeral Home, Heritage Chapel. Viewing will be from 1-2:00 p.m in the Chapel. Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, CA. Entrusted with arrangements.
