

Art (also known as Tury) was born to Juan and Geronima Banda on March 21,1948 in Calexico CA where he also attended school. He was involved in football and played the saxophone in the school band. In January 1964 he had the privilege of participating with his school band, marching in the Rose Bowl parade in Pasadena, CA.
He worked at Valley Shell Service Station during school until he joined the US Army in 1968.
After the Army he met his future wife Jenny Banda at Owens Drive Inn.
They were married on November 24, 1972 in Reno, NV and then moved to Riverbank CA.
He started working at the Hershey’s Chocolate plant in Oakdale and then was later hired at PG&E where he was employed for 37 years until his retirement.
Art was involved with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce where he assisted in supporting the community in various activities and fundraising. He loved to work around his yard, be around family and especially his grandchildren. He was a huge LA fan – Lakers, Rams and The Dodgers. Whether he was on the sidelines or in the stands, he was always there to support his nephews and all his grandchildren in any sport or school activity. He enjoyed spending his weekend having a family BBQ, playing corn hole and basketball.
Art is preceded in death with his wife Jenny Banda. He leaves behind his children Ivonne Benson married to Anthony Benson; and Valerie Banda. Brothers Ezekiel, Saul, Daniel Banda and sister Sara Salas. Along with the legacy of grandchildren: Fabian and Braiden Long, Johnathon Montanio married to Mickalea Montanio, Courtney Montanio, Alexandra Bautista married to Ruben Bautista, Briana and Carina Heredia and 6 great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
The celebration service will be held at 10am on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Lakewood Memorial Park 900 Santa Fe Avenue Hughson, CA 95326. Procession will immediately follow.
