With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Aurora Espinoza Leyva, who peacefully passed away on March 7, 2025. Born on August 19, 1932, in Sterling, Colorado, Aurora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who embodied warmth, humor, and an unwavering love for her family.
Aurora married the love of her life, Jesus Gonzales Leyva, in Georgetown, Texas, and together they built a beautiful family during their 75 years of marriage. She was the proud and loving mother of eight children, grandmother to 21 grandchildren, great-grandmother to 30 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandmother to 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was also a beloved sister, survived by five siblings.
Family was the cornerstone of Aurora’s life. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren, sharing laughter, stories, and love. She found joy in crocheting and was known for the beautiful blankets she lovingly made. She enjoyed shopping, dining out, and always took pride in looking elegant—her hair, nails, and outfits always reflecting her vibrant spirit.
Aurora had a deep love for music and was often heard singing along to songs on the radio. Her favorite song, Ángel Mío, was one she cherished from her father. She also held a strong faith and found comfort in prayer, often reciting the Guardian Angel prayer in Spanish and praying for her family every day.
A woman of resilience and determination, Aurora learned to drive later in life and took great pride in her independence. She loved gathering with her daughters, engaging in heartfelt conversations, and making lifelong memories. Her love for food was undeniable—chile rellenos, enchiladas, and sautéed vegetables were among her favorites, always paired with a glass of guava juice.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isabel and Carmen Espinoza, her brother, Esteban Espinoza, her son, Angel Leyva, and her granddaughter, Helina Anita Leyva.
Aurora was raised in Modesto, California, and later spent three and a half years in Visalia before returning home. Her presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her legacy of love and laughter will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
