Carmen Groves

September 5, 1939 – December 9, 2016

Jessie Carmen Groves was born on September 5, 1939 in Modesto, Ca. She entered into rest on December 9, 2016. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her husband Bobby Groves of Modesto, 4 Sons: Martin Groves of Modesto, Michael Groves (Lorita) of Turlock, Brian Groves (Annette) of Hughson, and Robert Groves of Modesto. She has 7 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Carmen is the youngest of sixteen children. She is preceded in death by her son Steven Douglas Groves, father Frank Ernest Parshall, and mother Phoebe Mae Parshall and 12 brothers and sisters.

The best word to describe Carmen is love. The love shared between Bobby and Carmen Is a true testament to the vows of marriage. It is a shining example to all of the love that most people only dream of. Family was everything to Carmen. Her families love for her was so evident and unwavering.

To know Carmen was to love her. Her personality was larger than life. She was known for her hugs. You couldn’t get out of her sight without one. To receive a Carmen hug was a blessing to so many and something all of her family looked forward to. You can guarantee that when she met God that he received the biggest Carmen hug of all.

Carmen had boisterous laugh. Her joy for life was evident in that laugh and in her smile. It was a smile so genuine that it was contagious. To be around her was to know joy, to know love, to know you always had someone you could count on, and to know what family really means.

She could be tough as nails when she needed to be, but just as soft too. She was always a protector, and she loved fiercely. She was spiritual and loved God. She wasn’t afraid to let you know it. She was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Turlock, Ca.

Services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home. The viewing will be Sunday, December 18th from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 19th at 9:00am
