Cathy Gail Akers

Cathy Gail Akers, 74, of Riverbank, California, passed away on March 5, 2026. Born May 15, 1951, Cathy will be remembered as a devoted, respected, and deeply loved wife, mother, mentor, leader, and friend to many.

Cathy graduated from Thomas Downey High School with the Class of 1969.

Cathy and her family owned an auto parts store in Riverbank, California. From there, she went on to serve as a purchasing manager at multiple companies, earning admiration for her steady leadership and dedication.

On February 6, 1971, Cathy married her high school sweetheart, Gary Akers. Together they welcomed two sons, Jody and Jason. Jason described Cathy as a “fun and awesome mom,” and her family knew her as an amazing wife and mother whose guidance and care shaped the lives of those around her.

Cathy enjoyed playing softball and treasured time spent fishing with Gary and the kids. She was a lover of animals and nature, and she was an avid fan of the S.F. Giants, the 49ers, and the Warriors. Cathy also loved bowling and was exceptionally good—so much so that she once chose family life over pursuing bowling at a professional level, a decision that reflected her priorities and her generous heart.

A committal service will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326, on March 12, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
