

Charles (Chuck) Albert Jostad , age 84, of Bottineau, North Dakota, passed away on September 9, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born to Leo and Hazel Jostad, Chuck lived an extraordinary life filled with adventure, faith, and a love for sharing with others.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Chuck had a personal relationship with Jesus and his love for the Lord was evident in all he did, and his passion for ministry touched countless lives.
A graduate of Minot State University, Chuck spent a year studying at the University of Vienna before entering Asbury Seminary in Kentucky for 3 years. His thirst for knowledge and exploration shaped his life’s journey.
Prior to an 18 year tenure teaching high school history, government and economics at Davis High School, Chuck worked full time in various ministry positions including 18 years with Campus Crusade for Christ (now Cru), with a highlight being the three years he and his beloved wife, Sandy, spent living and serving in ten different Asian countries as part of the traveling music group The Crossroads. While teaching he also worked part time at Trinity United Presbyterian Church for twenty years.
Throughout his life, Chuck traveled to over 80 countries, embracing new cultures and friendships while sharing his faith globally. He was an enthusiastic motorcyclist, crisscrossing the United States and Europe. In addition to his love for travel and motorcycles, Chuck was a licensed pilot, a classic car expert and collector, and a passionate reader and fix-it-yourself journeyman.
An avid athlete, Chuck had a particular love for basketball, which he cherished playing with his sons. He also enjoyed skiing with both his children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories of family togetherness and adventure. Chuck was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and loved celebrating each of their achievements.
Chuck will be remembered for his strong convictions, his love of God’s Word, his humor, and his passion for deep, meaningful conversations. His adventurous nature and love for life left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy; his children, Derek, Jeremy, and Chemaine; his grandchildren, Kiya, Isabella, Ariana, Dominic, Levi, and Jackson; and his siblings, Leo Jostad and Wanda Kroeplin. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Marlyss Jostad.
