Donald Benton, 84,was born in Modesto on Jan. 9, 1941 and was a veteran of the US Airforce. Following his military service, he became a semi-conductor test engineer in Santa Clara before moving to the Sierras, where he worked as a slot machine mechanic. He was also an avid scout leader, 4-wheeler, and a docent at Columbia State Historic Park. Don returned to his hometown of Modesto in retirement, where he passed away on Dec.19, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia, their children Cindy and Tony, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his brother Keith.
