Donald R. Harmon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025 at the age of 84. Born in Merced, California on April 25, 1941, Don grew up in the Central Valley, attending Merced schools, where he would later meet and marry his high school sweetheart. Together, they raised four children.
Don was preceded in death by his sons, Donald “Greg” Harmon and Shawn Carlton Harmon, and his parents, Reece and Verla May Harmon. He is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Elaine Harmon — the love of his life. He is also survived by his children Timothy Harmon and Melissa Albritton (Jim), and his stepchildren Mark Mead (Tami) and Daniel Mead (Yolanda).
A proud grandfather, Don leaves behind a legacy in his grandchildren: Ashlynn Harmon, Gregory Harmon, Alexis Manley, Connor Harmon, Cody Huntington, Collin Albritton, Peyton Mead, and Parker Mead. His life and love live on in each of them.
Don dedicated over 40 years of his career as a successful salesman with Unisource Paper Company. His warm personality, work ethic, and loyalty made him respected by clients and colleagues alike.
Outside of work, Don’s passion for classic cars was unmatched. He was a proud and active member of both the Mid Valley Chevy Club and the Modesto Area Street Rods. Over the years, he organized and participated in many local car shows, including the beloved Kool Kars for Charity Show, the Castle Air Museum Show, and numerous Graffiti Classic events. His contributions brought joy and connection to countless people in the community.
He loved hitting the road for RV adventures, relaxing days out boating, and cultivating his garden at home. Don also gave generously of his time to the Bel Passi Baseball community, serving on the board for 15 years and as president for 2.
Those who knew Don will remember his big heart, sharp sense of humor, unwavering dedication to family and community, and his deep love for life’s simple pleasures.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A service will be held for Donald at Lakewood Memorial on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
