Douglas Edwin Souza

July 16, 1944 - December 25, 2016

Age 72, of Denair, passed away at home on December 25, 2016. He was born in Merced California to the late Robert and Josephine Souza. Doug attended Mountain View grammar school from 1st -6th grades, then moved to Denair where he would finish his 7th through senior years. Through the years Doug was always a hard worker, he worked building chicken houses, raised dairy cattle while working on his families dairy, was a self empoyed custom hay farmer and a volunteer fireman/assistant chief for Denair Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years, then served on the board of commissioners for 14 years.

Doug is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jackie Souza; sons, Ryan (Dorothy) Souza and Ronnie Souza; daughter Terri Phillips; and brother Marvin (Chris) Souza. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Kylie (Phil) Martinez, Dylan Souza, Rylie and Makenah Phillips and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 4:00p.m. - 8:00p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00am in the Riverside Chapel. Both will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Sante Fe Ave, Hughson, CA. 95326.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Doug's honor be made to Denair Volunteer Fire Department, 3918 N. Gratton Rd. Denair, CA. 95316
