

Elwyn was born on January 4, 1938 to parents Elwyn Merle Sr. and Barbara Grubb Miller in Stockton, CA. The family moved to Modesto soon after, where Elwyn Jr. spent the rest of his life. He graduated from Modesto High School and the University of San Francisco with a degree in Public Administration. He was employed with Moore Business Forms before beginning his career in Law Enforcement with the Modesto Police Department. Elwyn dedicated 27 years towards the Modesto P.D., earning the title of Captain before he retired.
He was a member of the Old Fisherman's Club, the Modesto Rifle Club, and the Funstrummers Ukulele Group. He was an instrument-rated private pilot, and received his Amateur Radio (Ham) license as a teenager, and enjoyed the hobby his entire life. Elwyn spent his free time fixing things, and enjoyed browsing the Turlock Flea Market for an interesting gadget. He also spent his time with Delores, traveling around the United States and making over 20 trips to Europe. The two continued to create beautiful memories until his passing.
Elwyn is survived by his wife of 66 years Delores Miller; son Elwyn "Corky" Miller III (Christine) of Fountain Hills, AZ; daughter Terri Krause (Kurt) of Fresno; grandchildren Ashley Peters (Ty) of Sacramento, Dr. Chelsea Verhoff (Brandon) of San Diego, Eric Miller (Lindsay) of Chicago, Bryan Shaddy of Los Angeles; as well as 5 great-grandchildren.
Elwyn will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Park on Saturday, October 26th at 1:00PM in Pioneer Garden. In remembrance of Elwyn, the Miller family asks that donations be made to a charity of choice.
