"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Emilio Garcia Medina at the age of 81 on January 5, 2025 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital surrounded by his family at his side. The last several years, he suffered from heart disease that contributed to other organ complications."
Emilio was born on August 5, 1943 to Pablo Medina and Maria Trinidad Garcia in Jerez, Zacatecas. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Heriberta J. Medina. He was a devoted father to Leticia Lomeli (Joe), Jose Medina (Sara), Hortencia Aguilar (Fermin) and Olga Vizcarra (Juan). He cherished being a grandfather to 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many more that called him grandpa.
Emilio worked and retired from Stanislaus County Public Works Department as a custodian for over 30 years. In his early years, he worked as a farm laborer with his beloved wife Heriberta. He was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Parish but recently attended mass on Sundays at St. Anthony’s Parish with his daughter Hortencia Aguilar and her family.
In his past time, he loved putting puzzles together with his family, gardening his beautiful roses, praying the rosary and spending quality time with his family and friends. After the passing of his wife, Emilio made sure the family tradition of making tamales at Christmas was carried on by his children and even assisted last month at Christmas.
A visitation for Emilio will be held on Tuesday, January 14th from 4PM to 8PM at Lakewood Funeral Home in the Riverside Chapel, located at 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson. A mass at St. Anthony's Parish in Hughson will take place on Wednesday, January 15th at 10AM, with the committal to follow immediately after at Lakewood Memorial Park.
