Fred W. Hartman

Fred passed away peacefully Sunday night January 27th at Brandel Manor. Fred was born to Frank and Flossie Hartman in Osborn, KS. At the age of 12 his parents moved the family to Turlock, CA and settled on a dairy West of Turlock. He went to Turlock schools. His junior year of high school he joined the Navy and served until the end of WWII. Coming back to Turlock, he finished high school while working at JC Penney Co. After meeting Lois Doerksen at Penney's, they married on March 1, 1949. In 1950 he went to work for TID, he was an employee for 38 years, and retired in 1989 as head of the Service Department. Fred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Hartman, 4 children, Linda (Ron) Wayman of Windsor, Wilda (Jim) Yardy of Denair, Brenda (Steve) Hunter of Modesto, Dennis (Bonnie) Hartman of Denair. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 son, and 1 grandson. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, February 1 from 4-8pm (Riverside Building). Memorial Service will be held at Turlock Free Methodist Church on Saturday, February 2 at 2pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Turlock Free Methodist Church.
