I was stunned to read of George's passing.  George was very special to me for many years, although I haven't seen him in about ten years.  We spent a lot of time together when we were both with the ACSO.  
Go with God, George.  You will be greatly missed and deeply loved.

I often thinking of the time's you would talk to me about your family and I was very proud to be your friend and help you through some rough time's of your life to Glenn.. But I'am so so sad to about the lost  of your love one .. But alway's remember the good time's you had with your brother... And I know that Brother's and sister fight alot when we were growing up but we Learned from those fight and look back thinking now that we are older how dum it was to fight and as we are older now we laugh about it no matter what it was we alway's came to how much we all LOVE each other... ^i^  angles watching  over  George now.... My deepest sympathies go out to the Carvalho family.  I worked with "Big George" upon his arrival to ITR from Transportation. You always knew he was serious when he put his glasses on. He taught me you are never to old to learn something new.  He never left ITR, even though I did several times. I will truely miss him and his stories as his reputation among his coworkers as well as inmates still lives on today.

So sorry to hear about George. I haven't seen him since High School - but thought of him often.  I still can hear him singing "La Bamba" when he was in the band "Emeralds".

Sympathies to the Carvalho family.  Big George touched many a life, not only the life of the good guys,but bad guys too.  A good man taken from us much to soon.  God Bless you my friend.

I first met George in 1983 when I started working for ACSD.  He was larger then life and was liked/loved and respected by all. I was shocked when I learned of his passing.  I realize that I was one of the one's who loved him.  He trained me on the old compound and guided me like a big brother.  Rest in peace my friend.

"Big George" was a great guy who has been missed since he retired. He knew his stuff and would share his knowledge. He had quick wit and a frown which would turn into a smile as he shook my hand. He was the first I would go to when I was called to ITR for computer issues. He would always help me figure out how to fix the junk equipment and get the inmates processed.

My memories of George go way back to Schafer Park days where in the summer a group of us would hang out all day and George would sometimes bring his guitar and honor us with his amazing voice.... I'll forever hear him singing Angel Baby.

George was my neighbor for a few years. I didn't know that he had passed or that where I work was in charge of his services until yesterday. He is a great man, always watching out for his neighbors making sure that we were all safe. He will be greatly missed, but we know that he will continue to watch over us all from heaven. Big George will always be missed.  I remember the first day I worked with him in ITR.  He was in charge and knew how to work with new deputies and make them fell comfortable and show us his experience.  I even had inmates tell me about the days on the Hog farm with Big George. I met and knew George thru being members of the Ceres Lions Club.  George was a very hard working member.  He was always on hand to lend a hand. I'm so sorry to learn of George's passing.  I can't think of George without smiling.  He was the "Big Kahuna" when we worked together in the civil section.  George, my dad and I commuted to Oakland together many years ago.  Later, I was always happy to see George in ITR at Santa Rita.  He has a special place in my heart. I remember the day you came to Ohlone College with your newly issued Deputy Sheriff Badge.  I was about two or three week behind you and I brought mine to show you.  we served many a duty station together and had many a sing alongs together.  The Luau's in Modesto and gatherings. It's hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find comfort in knowing you were a special part of a well lived life.
I can remember when he started with the Sheriff's Dept. and the inmates named him BIG GEORGE and his CB handle was BULL FROG.
