

GEORGE "RAY" MC CLELLAN Feb 18, 1932 - Oct 10, 2017 George "Ray" McClellan of Modesto was called home to the Kingdom of Heaven on October 10th, 2017 at the age of 85. Ray was born in Marietta, Oklahoma on February 18, 1932 and later joined the US Army at the age of seventeen. While in the service, he married Marie Jones with whom he would share 66 years of marriage and three beautiful daughters. After his time in the army was finished, Ray and Marie started their family in Dallas, Texas before relocating to Modesto, California in 1961. In Modesto, Ray raised his family, built a career as a drywall contractor, and became a member of Crosspoint Community Church.
California's Central Valley suited Ray well, as he was an avid fisherman and routinely fished the San Joaquin delta and nearby lakes. He was also a life long bowler, and found a home for league play at Modesto's McHenry Bowl. In 1982, Ray and Marie moved back to Dallas where he returned to public service as a court bailiff for the Dallas County Sheriff's Office before retiring to Modesto for good.
Preceded in death by daughters Cathi Crouch, Vicki Money, and grandson Timothy Money, Ray is survived by his wife Marie, his daughter Debi Teague and her husband Ron, all of Modesto. He was also blessed with seven grand children, sixteen great grandchildren and six great-great grand children.
A viewing will be held from 4-8pm on Monday October 16, 2017 in the Riverside Chapel at Lakewood Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in that same location on Tuesday the 17th at 11am.
