Glen Mallory Murrey

Glen Mallory Murrey was born on July 3, 1950 to Glen Chester Murrey and Leola LaVaughn Bean Murrey. Glen continued his journey to be with our Lord on February 28th, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Glen is survived by his wife Louretta (Lourie) Murrey, son John Helton, daughter Michelle Bettencourt, and daughter Laura Hilgenberg (Kyle); grandchildren Joey Bettencourt (Mia), Riley Helton, Emmett Hilgenberg, and Lexi Hilgenberg; and great-grandchildren Beckem Bettencourt and Ruby Bettencourt. His extended family includes son Jason Haddock; daughter Brandi Gomes (Marc); grandchildren Cameron Gomes, Shane Gomes, and Sierra Haddock. Glen also leaves behind his sister Marvel Caiati and brother-in-law Ulysses Caiati, Kelly Murrey, and many more family and friends.

Glen graduated from Oakdale High School in 1969.

Glen is a U.S. Army Veteran, and served his country in Vietnam from 1970 to 1972 as SGT E5. He was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal W/2 Stars, a Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, a Bronze Star Medal, a Combat Infantryman Badge, and an Air Medal. He worked as a Warehouse Foreman at Merchants Refrigeration for 33 years.

To know him is to love him. Glen was known for his kind heart and humorous personality. He became an avid quilter and enjoyed making quilts for loved ones, and for the Quilts of Honor. The Oakdale Quilting Community called Glen their "Sew Bro". He enjoyed camping in his 5th-wheel, where he made many wonderful friends. He loved gathering in the back yard and barbequing with family and friends.

Glen "Mallory" will surely be missed, but he will live in our hearts forever.

A graveside service will be held for Glen on Monday, March 10 at 12:00PM at Lakewood Memorial Park, located at 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson, CA. Glen will be laid to rest in the Garden of Valor. An Honor Guard will also be present at the ceremony. Guests are recommended to bring ear-protection for those with hearing sensitivity, as a Volley of Three gun salute will take place.
