On June 11, 2022 Helen Mae Autrey went home to be with our Lord and Savior. She was born on April 3, 1940 to Thomas and Hazel Stuller in Glasgow, Montana. Her family would eventually settle in Spokane, Washington. It is Spokane that her heart would always consider home.
She met her husband in Spokane and became a military wife. They were stationed at Fairchild AFB in Washington where she gave birth to her son Jeffery Autrey. They would then relocate to Santa Maria, Ca then to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she gave birth to her daughter Laura Autrey. From there they went to Hickham AFB in Hawaii. In 1964, Helen and her young family came stateside settling in Modesto, Ca. where she would spend the remainder of her life.
Helen had worked for Campbell Soup prior to going to work for the Social Security Administration. She was with the SSA for 28 yrs at the time of her retirement.
During her life, no matter the circumstances, she always walked with the Lord. Helen was involved with the Single's Group at First Baptist Church, where she also enjoyed singing in the choir. It was during her time at First Baptist Church that she met her lifetime friend Terri Burch. Her love of reading led her to volunteer at Big Valley Grace Church library for many years. She would also go onto teaching illiterate adults to read. She attended church and was involved with the Senior Bible Study Group at Calvary Chapel Modesto for over 20 years. It is there that she met many of her long-time friends. Later in her life she would volunteer with the GAP (God Always Provides) food pantry at The Well Community Fellowship. It was always her belief that it was more important to provide the spiritual food than the physical food. In Helens final chapter of her life she was attending church at Calvary Chapel Oakdale.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, her sister Judy Benson and her brother
Robert Stuller. She is survived by her sister Mary Thorne, her 2 children Laura Clark and
Jeff Autrey. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren Keith Clark, Cody Clark, and Jeffery Autrey. Helen has numerous nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews. Helen touched so many people's lives and was loved by everyone she came into contact with. She will be greatly missed. I love you mom
