

James Dombrovski "Jim" passed away at the age of 82. He was born in St. Cloud,MN to the late Al and Bernice (Maslowski) Dombrovski. After serving in the US Navy he moved to Modesto in 1949. He married Billie Wells of Denair in 1951 and they spent 44 years together before her passing in 1995. He owned Coast Insurance Center with his wife for over 25 years and served as President of Stanislaus Independent Insurance Agents Association. Jim was an active member of the Modesto community and served as an officer of various charitable organizations including a term as President of Modesto Civitan Club and a charter member of Live Oak Civitan Club. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus and St. Joseph's churches. He wrote a number of Western novels under the pen name J. Albert including a short play "Sunday in Sonora" which was aired on NBC's Matinee Theater in 1957. Jim was an avid reader and fan of B western movies. He was also an accomplished bowler, avid golfer and member of Bogies Unlimited. After retiring from the Insurance Business in 1995, he enjoyed travel and visited more than 40 countries. He played piano in New Horizons Jazz Band, was a member of Young at Heart and Traveleers Travel Club. He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon (Steve) Welling of El Dorado Hills, and Pam Looper of Modesto and 4 grandchildren, Derek and Kyle Welling and Brenton and Megan Looper and his sister, Jean (Rick) Lundt of Independence, Kansas and 3 nephews Eric, Jason and Ryan Lundt. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 8th at Lakewood Funeral Home – 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA with the family receiving visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park at 11:00AM on Thursday, June 9th with a Celebration of Life Memorial to follow immediately at Samaritan Village - 7700 Fox Rd. Hughson, CA
