Joe was born in Modesto on January 3, 1948 to loving parents Ben and Elsie Housewright. He is survived by his siblings and spouses: Michael Housewright, Danny Housewright, Rebecca Smith, Sharon Camp, Stacy Khanishian. Joe is also survived by his daughter Amandah and granddaughter Halley Sexton.
He was raised in Empire and graduated from Downey High school in 1967. When called to serve his country, Joe fought bravely in the Vietnam War where he was severely injured and awarded a Purple Heart.
He returned to Modesto and followed a career as a firefighter with the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, while continuing his education to become a paramedic and Arson Investigator.
Joe enjoyed car shows and the adventures of riding with the Modesto and Jamestown Harley Owners Groups, while sharing his life with companion Barbara Fortado. If you needed a volunteer for an important cause, Joe was it. He spent many years helping to organize the Sierra Hope Ride.
A service will be Held at Lakewood Memorial, Riverside Pavilion in Hughson on March 3, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Soon after Joe will be laid to rest at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
