without you near me, somewhere along the way I lost my light and I’ve never been able to find it again. 8 years later I cannot climb myself out of the hole your absence left in my heart. I really wish you knew how much you meant to me bubba. My life will never be as bright or vibrant as it was when you were here.

I miss you everyday. Ever since you left I haven’t been able to sleep through the night like I once did. I miss you deeply and no matter how far I am from your grave I’ll always make sure you have flowers bubba. I have an ofrenda and regardless I know you are with me. I live my life in a way I know would make you proud. Thank you for protecting me, so many times I should’ve died. I should be worse off than I am but I am happier than ever. Thank you for protecting me now as you did then. 

Continue to watch over my home, I make sure it is one filled with joy and laughter especially in your honor. Every time something major happens I write a few pages in the book I keep for you. I keep fresh water, hot coffee, and fruit near your ofrenda for you and our great grandparents to smell.  My future children will always know who their uncle is. Every time a memory of us pops into my mind I write it down so that I may never lose it.

Cousin..  I’ve been sitting here trying to find the rights word to express what you meant to me but words cannot express the love I have for you. The memories we shared are endless. The bond I shared with you is rare and for knowing you I am so grateful. You have impacted my life in more ways than one; you took care of my brother as if he was your own and you have taught us things that we will cherish forever. Whenever we were out and about you would always make sure that we didn’t lose each other in a crowd. You always made sure to keep any eye on me and sleep near me whenever we’d sleepover some where just to make sure I was safe. I remember there was a time we spent everyday together. You’d sleep over at my place and I at yours. I remember this specific time when we were sitting around a fire and you looked at me and told me how beautiful I was and how much potiental I had to become anything I wanted. You said I could be a model if I wanted and I laughed; but Joey I remember your words that night and I keep seeing it replay in my head. It was one of the most heart felt moments we shared. You reminded me of my worth and since that night I haven’t forgotten it. You were more than my best friend, you were my brother, you were my family and I was so blessed to have known you. Joey was truly a one of a kind person and I viewed him as a brother. He was always willing to help me or anyone at a moments notice without question. I am truly lucky to have shared so many great expereinces with him and I could not have asked for a more solid friend.  Joe had a way of making everyone around him happy and every event that much more fun.  From our early days in highschool to now, we have shared countless memories that I will never forget. We have had so much fun this year with our recent trips to Santa Cruz the water park and Black Oak where we may have saw a UFO haha. You were such a thoughtful and caring person to all of us and I hope you realize how much you truly meant to those around you. Joey I love you brother and know that you are in a better place now resting peacefully. I am so blessed to have had you in my life and will never forget the countless good times that we shared, rest easy.

Warped tour of 2017, we ditched everyone and the entire music festival to go to mountain view movie theatres drunk and watch the "Emoji Movie". We spent $100 at the arcade and went out for sushi. We always ended up excluding whoever we hungout with and basically talking amongst each other. Ill never forget holding your hand or going to the beach, watching movies or me making you coffee. The home cooked dinners youd make me. Raising Nina together. I never knew the memories would stop my love. You were my best friend in the entire world. I love you and there isnt a second you dont cross my mind baby. I cant wait to be with you again.
