Kamla Wati Prasad

Our beloved Kamla Wati Prasad—born October 25th, 1937 in Lautoka, Fiji—was laid to rest June 24th, 2020 in Modesto, California. She arrived in America on June 20th, 1975. She was a dynamic woman who obtained her citizenship, worked any job proudly, and was the matriarch of our growing family. She was an excellent cook, a bedrock of strength, and an endless source of guidance. She was also an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Kamla is survived by her sister: Saras (Goodi) Verma.

Her children: Anita Mishra and husband—Sanjay Mishra; Shanti Sharma and husband—Bob Sharma; and Prem Anand and wife—Sesh Anand.

Her grandchildren: Anthony Mishra and wife—Ashika Mishra; Sabrina Popat and husband—Mitesh Popat; Daniel Sharma and wife—Sanjeeta Sharma. Seema Mishra, Sharon Sharma, Richard Anand, and Priscilla Anand.

And her great grandchildren: Sidarth Popat, Ahan Mishra, and Sameer Popat.

Kamla faced every obstacle—in life and in health—with resolve and determination. Even with declining health in recent years, she was a fighter and made many miraculous recoveries. She remained a bright horizon for all who saw her. We hope to take all that she has taught us and honor her memory going forward. Though we will dearly miss her, our miracle worker is at peace.
