Lucy L. Hunter

Sept. 6, 1916 - Sept. 28, 2013

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away on September 28, 2013, after a short stay at English Oaks Convalescent Home in Modesto. Lucy was born to John and Emma Logsdon in Spiro, Oklahoma on September 6, 1916. She married Andrew Jackson "Jack" Hunter on July 14, 1934. She was preceeded in death by Jack in 1970 and her daughter Barbara Jean Hunter of Hughson in 2012. She is survived by her daughter Louise House (Orville) of Hughson, her son Melvin Douglas Hunter of Bakersfield, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Jack and Lucy migrated to California from Oklahoma in 1936. They ultimately settled on a small ranch outside of Hughson in 1952 where they raised their children. Lucy was a shipping clerk for Rich of California for 30 years before retiring. She was a faithful member of the Hughson Church of Christ since 1952. God and family were always foremost in her life.

Visitation will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Avenue in Hughson, on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A celebration of Lucy's life will take place at the Hughson Church of Christ, 1519 Tully Road, on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at 10 a.m.
