Marcia Benson (Shumaker)

Marcia Lynn Benson (Shumaker) was born in Pipestone, Minnesota on May 25, 1956 to Roger and Celia Moret. She went home to be with the Lord the afternoon of October 8, 2023 as she loved and knew the Lord as her personal Lord and Savior!

When Marcia was 3, the family packed up and moved to a little town in California called Ripon where they built their home on 5th street and where she grew up with her siblings Daryl, Wayne, Merle, Marilyn, and Dianne. She graduated from Ripon Christian High in 1975 and shortly after married the love of her life, the late Robert Warren Shumaker of Carthage, Missouri on July 16, 1976, and began their life together in Palm Springs, CA. They gave birth to their first baby girl in 1977: Heather Cheri Shumaker born in Carthage, Missouri, and a few years following, their second baby girl in 1980: Cristina Jasmine McGaffee (Shumaker) in Modesto, California.

Marcia graduated from Modesto Junior College focusing on Business and Child Development and successfully running a home childcare business. She was able to be a stay-at-home mother fostering a strong relationship with her daughters for years to come! She was an accomplished originator of DYI - do it yourself - before YouTube was a thing and could build or fix anything at hand, a tinker of all things!

She was kind, loving, and the most generous person. She would definitely tell you how she felt about things but even still would come alongside you and hold your hand through it all. Her door was always open to anyone who needed anything. Home to Marcia was full of children, family, and friends!

Marcia loved music. There was never a time she didn’t have music going and her foot tapping to the beat and singing along with all her heart! She couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket but kept singing through her final days! She touched everyone’s life she encountered. She was truly loved by so many and will be truly missed!
