Maria Perez Armendariz, 83 of Modesto, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2020. She was born in Torreon, Mexico on June 6, 1937. She met the love of her life, Gregorio Armendariz and were married in 1958 in El Paso Texas. After living in Texas for 11 years, they moved to California in 1969.
Maria was a stay at home mom, and later worked in agriculture, sales and as an entrepreneur. She was loving, caring and always enjoyed making you smile by sharing one of her many jokes, “chistes”. She was a great mother, grandmother, wife and friend who loved God and always put her family first.
She was blessed with 7 children, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, 3 siblings and a lifetime of friends. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she loved to attend Mass. Maria’s favorite things in life were Gregorio, her husband of 62 years and her family. She loved listening to music, dancing, traveling, working on arts and crafts and cooking for our large family gatherings during the holidays and birthday celebrations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio, her sister Josefina, brothers Lencho and Manuel, her parents, granddaughter Monica Aitken Armendariz and niece Lourdes Balderas.
She is survived by her sons Greg(Karen), Manuel(Tina), Santos(Irma), Rick(Lorena), Mario and David and her daughter Norma(Barry) Torres, granddaughters Marissa(Russell) Sparman, Sabrina(Aaron) Gaul, Alycia Torres, Lisa Armendariz, Stephanie Armendariz, Andrea Armendariz, Nancy Armendariz, Maya Armendariz, Kayla Armendariz and Julia Armendariz, her grandsons Gabriel Armendariz(Martha Robles), Steven Armendariz, Peter Armendariz, Jaime Torres and Marcos Torres, her great-grandsons Aaron Aitken, Ace Aitken and William Hines, great-granddaughters Angelina Aitken, Camila Armendariz and Remington Sparman.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 24th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 505 W. Granger Avenue Modesto, CA.
