

MARION FREDERICK HAWKINS
APR 9, 1925 - SEPT 11, 2010
Marion Frederick Hawkins was born April 9, 1925 in Marshfield, MO
and passed away in his home surrounded by his family on September
11, 2010 at the age of 85. Marion was born to Floyd and Etta Mae Hawkins,
the youngest son of their nine children. In 1943 he entered the United States
Navy and served his country alongside his three brothers. He was honorably
discharged in 1945 and went to work for the Hanford Sentinel and later the
Santa Barbara News-Press. He retired in 1987 after 40 years of loyal service
to newspapers. In 1989, Marion and his wife Connie moved to Modesto where
he enjoyed golfing, attending Shelter Cove Church, and most of all, watching
his grandkids play sports. Marion is survived by his wife of 62 years,
Connie Hawkins of Modesto; his three children, Cecilia Avila of Fresno,
Linda (Rodney) Rodrigues of Lemoore, and Fred (Carmen) Hawkins of
Modesto; sisters Leota Clair of Marshfield, MO and Oleta Miller of Niangua,
MO; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren;
and countless other family members who will miss his humor and gracious
heart. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers William Hawkins,
Cecil Hawkins, and Earl Hawkins; and sisters Odetta Schilling, Armenta Lytle
and Myrtle Swearingen; and great-grandson Chase Schlenker. Funeral services
will be held on Friday, September 17 at the Lakewood Funeral Home,
Heritage Chapel, in Hughson at10 am. In lieu of flowers, please send a
