Martha "Marty" Jones

Marty was predeceased by her husband of 18 years, James Jones. She is survived by her daughter Kim (Rick) Weder, Michelle (Evan) Proulx, stepdaughter Lori (John) Burgess, grandson Hunter (Chloe) Faulk-Burgess, and great grandson Arthur Faulk-Burgess. She loved her 2 grandchildren; Nick (Jessica) Weder and Trisha (Steve) Makris and 3 great grandsons Noah Weder, Luca Weder, and Dimitri Makris by marriage as if they were her own.

Marty was born in Salinas, Ca and relocated to Modesto, Ca as a child. She was particularly close with her sister, Linda Nordin, who preceded her in death. Cheryl and Terrie, Linda's daughters, were two more daughters in her eyes whether they welcomed more mothering or not. After a first marriage to her high school sweetheart, Marty was able to find the love of her life, James Jones, and celebrate 18 years of marriage before losing him in 2008. After Jim's passing, Marty gave all of her love and attention to her family. She made it a priority throughout her life to be the safe harbor for her children and others, often coming through for anyone in need. My favorite example is of she and Jim appointing themselves family to a neighbor who had none and welcoming him into our lives, holidays, and celebrations as if he had always been with us.

The recent pandemic was particularly difficult for her, as it has been for many with health concerns, resulting in her leaving home less and less often. She became an expert with her smart phone through texts, video calls, and fiercely competitive scrabble sessions keeping in touch with all of us. This increased connection has brought a closeness with her for many of us that is comforting at this time. We are saddened by our loss, but comforted with the thought of her reunion with our father in heaven and those we've lost.
