Longtime Modesto resident, Marvin Wheeler, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2013 in Modesto, CA at the age of 100 years old.
Marvin is survived by his wife Letty, daughters Wilma Trout, Mary DeAnda and Rosalie (Ray) Weston, sons John (Darlene) Wheeler and Roy (Marilyn) Bell as well as 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren, 4 sisters and a brother and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives Ollie, Marie and Lillian, his parents Roland Teague and Mary Elizabeth Wheeler, 4 brothers and a sister.
Marvin served in the US Army from 1941 to 1945. He loved camping, hunting with his family and riding motorcycles. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
A big celebration was held December 16, 2012 at Hometown Buffet in Modesto for Marvin’s 100th birthday. Five generations of family, many friends and Modesto Mayor Garrad Marsh and his wife came to wish Marvin a happy birthday! He also received special recognition certificates from the City of Modesto, Willard Scott and NBC, Governor Jerry Brown, President Obama and the Social Security Administration offered congratulations to Marvin R. Wheeler on ceremonial celebration commemorating 100 years of life.
Services will be on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Lakewood Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Hughson. Visitation will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am with the Service and Interment following at 11:00am.
