Michael Steven Souza

Michael Steven Souza October 31, 1955 - January 9, 2017 Michael Steven Souza passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 9, 2017. He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Souza. He leaves behind the love of his life, Sheri Moring Souza, his wife of twenty-two years. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Alice Theresa Souza, sister Carol Fayad (John), and five children: Brandon Moring (Annie), Matt Souza (Nancy), Jeff Moring (Nina), Ryan Souza (Amy), and Ashlee Moring (Brett Dickinson). He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Bo, Colt, Abby, Samira, and Saylor Moring, Canaan Souza, and Presley Dickinson. They lovingly called him "Pope". He was a loyal, hard-working employee of Bronco Winery for forty-five years and a member of E Clampus Vitus. He was a loving and devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved cooking, camping, boating, and entertaining his huge family. Being born on Halloween likely influenced his love for "dressing up" for every holiday. He could always be counted on to be the life of the party. His hugs and kisses were sought after by all; his warmth was contagious. He was happiest spending time with Sheri and their grandkids. At every event, one could always spot his face in the crowd - relishing the moment. Family and friends will gather for a viewing Monday, January 16, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home, and on Tuesday, January 17 at 11:30 a.m. for the funeral. Reception immediately following at the Tuolumne River Lodge.
